Senior by default
Every engagement is led by a senior engineer who stays with the project from kickoff to handover — no swap-outs mid-build.
We started Hexabyte Labs because too many WordPress builds get handed off as a tangle of page-builder markup and unmaintained plugins. We build the way a product team would: custom themes, versioned code, real testing — with the same rigor we bring to the custom software, mobile apps and cloud work that surrounds our WordPress practice.
Our story
Hexabyte Labs began as a small team of WordPress engineers doing rescue work — called in after a page-builder site had become too slow and too fragile to touch. We kept seeing the same root causes: plugin sprawl, no version control, no tests, and nobody who could explain what a given block of markup actually did.
So we built the studio around the opposite defaults: custom Gutenberg blocks instead of drag-and-drop builders, code review and CI/CD on every WordPress project, and a senior engineer attached to each engagement from day one. That same discipline now extends to the custom software, mobile apps and cloud infrastructure we build for clients who need more than a website.
Today the team splits roughly evenly between WordPress specialists — developers, plugin engineers and headless architects — and the broader engineering bench that handles everything from React Native apps to Kubernetes migrations.
How we work
Every engagement is led by a senior engineer who stays with the project from kickoff to handover — no swap-outs mid-build.
We audit before we add. WordPress builds stay lean, fast and maintainable instead of collecting fifty overlapping plugins.
Two-week increments, demoed live, with automated tests and CI/CD from the first merged pull request.
Fixed cadence, visible progress, no surprise invoices — you always know what's shipping and when.
Tell us what you're building — discovery calls are free and usually 30 minutes.
